Fabulous Gift Ideas for Runners

It's time to find a Christmas present for a running-lover. The pressure's on to come up with something truly unique, but where do you start?

Her are a few gift ideas that helpfully avoid the murky clothing route.

1. A Trifecta Pass for Spartan Races

Vanessa & Amy Spartans

Price: £210

This pass gets you entry to 3 UK-based obstacle course races (a 5k, 12k and 20k). Amy (my Co-Founder at Secret London Runs) and I got season passes a couple of years ago and it was money well spent.

With some of the best obstacles I've ever seen, a spartan gift for your running-mad loved one guarantees fun after fun after fun.

2. A Garmin Runner's Watch

Price: £90-£380

I always thought that running watches were just for pro-runners. In races I saw success as keeping up with a watch-bearing competitor!

But I got a Garmin as a Christma gift last year and am now a convert. It sets personal records for about 6 different distances. When you first get it, you set a new record on every run - you're amazing!

3. A Gift Voucher for Secret London Runs

Price: £30 for a Personal Tour for 2

Couldn't get too far without mentioning our very own gift vouchers that are selling like hot cakes this Christmas!

Secret London Runs give guided running tours that reveal London's secret history whilst working up a sweat. Buy your runner a gift voucher so they can book at a time that suits them.

Foam Roller

4. A Foam Roller

Price: About £20 for a decent one

We love to run and run. But stretching and looking after ourselves is dull!

To recover from a recent ankle injury, my physio recommended using a foam roller to break down the dense mass of muscle that is my calf. Couldn't recommend more as a practical and useful gift for runners, injured or not.

5. A subscription to Runner's World

Runner's World

Price: £25

It's a real treat to get Runner's World delivered every month.

No, we don't need it - the beauty of running is that it's free.

But regular tips, training plans, recipe ideas and event updates keep us motivated and inspired to take on the next challenge.

6. A Runner's Guide to London

Runner's Guide to London

Price: £12.50

If you're looking for a stocking filler for a London-loving runner, look no further.

This books gives a whopping 120 running routes in the UK's capital, as well as a guide to the best races and fun interviews with local legends.

Life's too short to run the same routes over and over again. Explore one of the greatest cities in the world.

If you'd like some more ideas, or more information about any of these recommendations do give me a shout at secretlondonruns@gmail.com.
