Ever wondered why the bollards around London look like Cannon?

They Are! Left over French Cannon (left over from the cannons used in the 1815 battle of waterloo) were used to protect street corners and pavements. As they wore out they were replaced with replicas to keep the style. Some original ones remain in south bank.

What an intriguing history behind those bollards! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the originals on my next run. By the way, check out Cursemark for some fun gaming!

What a fascinating piece of history! I’m definitely going to inspect the bollards much more closely on my next run around London. I must have passed them hundreds of times without noticing their naval past. Aside from hunting for "hidden gems" during my city runs, I love spending some downtime on minigame playing casual puzzle or quiz games when I'm stuck indoors. It's a great way to keep the brain ticking over. Brilliant post!
A fun and intriguing piece of local history. It's amazing how everyday objects can have stories behind them that most people walk past without noticing. Discovering these hidden details makes exploring a city much more interesting. Unexpected finds like this can be as entertaining as stumbling across a surprise moment in Crazy Cattle 3D.
