INFO FOR PARTICIPANTS
WHERE TO MEET
South Kensington Station, Thurloe Street, next to the Santander Cycle station SW7 2ND
WHEN TO ARRIVE
5-10 minutes before the time on your tickets. There's no need to arrive earlier - we'd hate to see you get cold! Our guides will be there from about 15 minutes before the start time. The tour will leave promptly at the start time of the tour - so if you're late you will miss it. For health and safety reasons, we can't have you join us part-way round the tour. If you were late and missed the tour, I'm afraid there's nothing we can do, so please don't get in touch with us on social media or by email to delay the tour if you're late.
HOW LONG WILL THE TOUR TAKE?
How long will the tour take? Approx 1.5 hours. We stop regularly for photos and festive history so it might be a little longer.
WHAT TO WEAR
Wear running clothes/running shoes and something Christmassy. Fancy dress optional but very much encouraged.
In previous years we have given every runner a santa hat but for environmental reasons we're not doing so this year. Instead we're hoping you'll wear your own long-lasting festive-wear - and we'll give a prize for the best-dressed tour of the season.
WHERE DOES THE TOUR END?
At the Tate Britain Please feel free to rehydrate with a drink in their gorgeous gin bar, open Monday - Saturday 4pm-10pm.
There is no bag drop for this event. We advise you pack light and bring a backpack. Depending on the opening times of local bakeries and sizes of the tours we may need to give you your mince pie at the start of the tour. So a backpack that can hold a mince pie is essential.
TELL US MORE ABOUT THE MINCE PIES
Everyone on the tour will be getting a mince pie to refuel after your run!
Each tour has a guide pace to keep you in your comfort zone. We are pretty strict on the mantra: "We don't leave anyone struggling at the back". Please double check the pace of your tour and be prepared to run at that pace. If you're lucky enough to be able to run faster than the pace of your tour, then please be prepared for a gentler jog on your tour. We'd appreciate it if you stay behind or next to your tour guide during the tour - this really helps us keep the group together.
WON'T IT GET BUSY WITH SHOPPERS?
We've been doing this a while. And although some areas will be busy, we have designed routes that avoid the crowds as much as possible. Some nights are much busier than others (the first week of December tends to contain one or two nights that are more crowded than we'd like) but it does get pretty quiet. If we do hit some crowds, we'll walk for a couple of minutes and then get back to our run. Please be patient with your guide who will do her/his best to get you sweating again as quickly as we can.
